In an overflowing potting shed, Greenfingers shows how to grow seeds, make simple crafts from natural materials, and unearths a long forgotten tradition about the Thistle.

STORY OF GREENFINGERS

I appeared with John in many shows including Are You Being Served and we became great friends. He loved plants and flowers and was most enthusiastic when I began to write my nature stories for children’s television. In fact it was John who came up with the title WINDFALLS.

Some years later I asked John if he’d be interested in playing an eccentric old gardener in a new children’s TV programme I was writing. And, after reading the script – to my great joy he agreed. John played the character brilliantly and who would have guessed… Greenfingers was once Mr Humphries from Are You Being Served!
