Rudi Carrell’s UM LAUFENDEN BAND in Germany and TJOCKA SLÄKTEN in Sweden

I had to do a running commentaries for both of these shows in languages I didn’t speak. Weeks leading up to these appearances were spent doing language crash courses. And, there was a bit of a crash at the end of my presentation in Germany because instead of saying ‘Fertig’ for finished, I mispronounced the word and said ‘F…..rted!’ Just before the show I’d been paid in cash and wanting to keep the wad of notes secure I’d stuffed them down my bra! However, this caused an extended bust line which almost blocked my view of the clown collage I was creating. Luckily, I managed to angle my body so I could see over the bulge or I should say bulges!

In Sweden I thought the commentary was going well till I heard howls of laughter from the studio audience because again I’d mispronounced a word and it could even have been a rude one! Even Inga Gill one of the show’s hosts was in fits of laughter. Inga was a well-known Swedish actress with many films to her credit and the image above was her caricature created especially for the show.
